Brain strokes occur when an area of the brain is deprived of flow of blood and oxygen. Cells in that area of the brain begin to die. The consequences depend on the severity of what happens, from temporary numbness to various paralysis, all cases need to be handled with urgency.
There are several factors that increase the chances of strokes, such as cardiovascular disease, physical inactivity, obesity, diet, and smoking.
Besides these factors, females must be disturbed by other dangers that can cause strokes.
Five triggers of women's brain stroke:
Using Conceptives
Oral contraceptions can cause blood clots, increasing the risk of stroke. Smoking women and those affected by a family member are advised to avoid contraception.
Mute
High estrogen levels increase blood clotting factors, thus increasing the risk of stroke. Doctors advise females who have had a history of stroke in their family to take great care during pregnancy.
Migraine with aura
Women are three times more likely than males to suffer from migraines. Females suffering from migraines with aura (a special form of migraine associated with visual problems) are also more likely to suffer strokes.
High Blood Pressure
High blood pressure is another risk factor affecting both males and females. However, the effect is greater on women (the risk increases when they use contraception).
Loneliness and Depression
Depression and psycho-Social stress are related to high blood pressure, one of the biggest causes of strokes. Their influence is greater on women than on men. Besides knowing causes, it is important to know the symptoms of this disease.
