Turkey's prime minister, Binali Yildirim, has called on Greece to refrain from “provocative moves”, as Turkish coastal guards have removed a Greek flag deployed at the contested Aegean Sea areas of the Dedim district in Turkey's south-western. “They tried to put a Greek flag on the rocks of Turkey's Dimim resort. “They tried to put a Greek flag on Turkey's Dimim resort rocks. Our coast guard did what was necessary by removing the flag,” he told reporters in Istanbul, reports “Hurriyet”, the Periscopi broadcast.
Our Council for Turkey is to stay within its borders and be a good neighbour by avoiding provocations that can easily go into an escalation of tensions. Nobody should think we'll make concessions for our rights. We are determined to give answers against these de facto interventions,” Yildirim said.
The prime minister also said that setting the flag on this land is similar to that of the month of February that had occurred on the islands of Kardak.
Meanwhile, Greek government says there is no knowledge of this incident. /Periscopi/
