President Thaci has said that every April 27th he brings us together to always remember Kosovo's high price of freedom and independence.
Kosovo has been marking the Week of Undiscovered Persons for several days. We honor the pain of their families, the family we'll always be with. 19 years after the war, we know that every day many families live in spiritual pain. The loss of loved ones for many families is even greater because their bodies are still unknown. Families of missing persons deserve to know the truth”, President Thaci said.
The head of state has said that our institutions and the international community must do their best to illuminate this sensitive ethical and human aspect.
The end of the tragic past and the rise to justice and perpetrators strengthen the human conscience and boost peace in the country and the region. The perpetrators of crimes, massacres, deportation, extinction, and other forms of systematic murder of our citizens must be brought to justice. Belgrade authorities must respond and provide data to the 1650 people who continue to be registered as missing during the war. So, even today, from here, we call the conscience of Serbian authorities and expect international factors to pressure on these authorities to provide data for our missing citizens during the war, President Thaci has said.
He has stressed that the issue of missing persons should be exercised at the highest levels, even in Brussels, as a topic that no longer awaits.
On this day of pain, President Thaci has expressed thanks to all our international partners and has highly praised the work of the Government Commission for Undiscovered Persons.
I thank the associations of the family of the missing persons and I guarantee you will have my maximum support. It will not stop our efforts for this issue, this serious scourge of war to be closed as soon as possible, to open new opportunities and find peace and reconciliation”, he added.
President Thaci added that families of missing persons and all war victims, without ethnic differences, deserve greater and eternal institutional respect.
