Today in all public institutions in Kosovo is a day off. That was because of the Catholic Easter that was yesterday.
According to the Law on the Official Festival if the holiday is to be on Saturday or Sunday, its compensation is made on a day of work, usually on Mondays.
So for example, February 17th, the day of Kosovo's Declaration of Independence has fallen for Saturday, then the institutions have not worked on Monday 19 February.
Even this year, it often falls on Saturday or Sunday as it is laid off on the following day of work.
Yesterday (April 1st) has celebrated the Easter holiday, and today it is day off. The same will be next week.
On April 8, it is the day of the Constitution and is also the Orthodox Easter. On Monday, April 9th on the official holiday calendar is a holiday. But, what are the holiday days that Kosovo institutions have on holiday, writes Kosovas Prees.
After April 9th, the day off will be on May 1st, which is Tuesday. But in May there will be another party. May 9th is Europe's Day, but in Kosovo it has entered the calendar of official holidays.
Public institutions will have a break on June 15th, when it is the Day of the Great Bayram, which is Friday.
And more than two months later, so on August 21st, it will be a holiday, which is the Day of Little Bayram, which is Tuesday.
From August to December 25, when it is Catholic Christmas, no official holiday calendar has ever been marked.
But despite this for several years since November 28th, Albania's independence day is a holiday, as this holiday has entered only the memorial holiday calendar, but not even the official one.
Kosovo MPs have demanded that the law for official holidays be changed, but that is not yet considered in Parliament.
Official holidays in Kosovo are:
New Year 1 and January 2
Orthodox Christmas
Kosovo Independence Day February 17th
Catholic Easter
Orthodox Easter
International Work Day 1 May
Day of Europe May 9th
The Great Baram
Little Bayram
Catholic Christmas
