Publishing in false magazines, including Kosovo doctors and professors involved

A research entitled “pseudocademia and scientific titles shopping in Medicine”, carried out by Dr. Taulant Muka and journalist Esmeralda Keta have shocked the community of doctors and professors at the Faculty of Medicine in Tirana.

Muka and Keta prepared a scientific paper with false data. The authors were Dr. Taulant, one 81 and the other 86. Both with only three years of school.

This work was sent to five scientific magazines: The India-based International Journal of Medical Science and Clinical Intervention, Merit Research Journal of Medicine and Medical Sciences (centre in India), Medical Archives (centre Bosnia), and BANTAO Journal (centre) and prestigious diabetes magazine Diabetology.

The results were truly surprising. Three magazines returned positive answers within the first week, immediately accepted false work and demanded payment so that the article could come online, totaling $750. One of them replied that it would go to the editor, despite sending the article only by email and not on the official page as standard procedures require. While the prestigious magazine published by the European Diabetes Organization rejected the article within 24 hours”, the research published by Muka and Keta says.

The publication of this false article has prompted strong doubts about the authenticity of the academic titles of Albanian professors.

“Medical Archives” was the magazine that accepted the first and published the work. It is managed by an individual/company in Bosnia which also manages two more magazines, “The socio-medica” and “Acta Informatica Medica”. All three impact factors have zero, as well as “Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences” and <x8-Journal of Medical Reports” The Impact factor is used to measure the importance and spoke up of scientific magazines.

In these five magazines, Tirana professors have mostly published scientific works during 2010-2018. Genc Bunrezer leads with 20 publications, Enver Roshi with 18, Ali Refatlar with 10, Miftar Barbulushi and Alma Idrizi with 9, etc.

The newspaper Shneta has asked for the names of doctors and professors who published their work. The authors from Kosovo to these magazines are professors, former minister, doctors, clinic directors, etc.
