Pope Francis strongly condemned the alleged chemical attack in Douma in Syria, labeling it an unwarranted use of <x0->instrusions of extermination”.
Horrible news of the bombings comes from Syria with dozens of victims, of which many are women and children. We pray for the dead, for the wounded and for families suffering”, the pope said.
He called on political and military leaders to choose the path to negotiations, as the only way to achieve peace.
According to activists and hospital resources, at least 40 people were killed in the alleged chlorine gas attack, which occurred Saturday in the Syrian rebels controlled town.
The UN Security Council will discuss Syria today.
