Police in India have arrested teachers in connection with a bomb at the wedding that killed the groom and injured the bride.
Pujilal Meher worked with the victim's mother in the state of Orissa. Police say he plotted the murder as revenge that the victim's mother was promoted. Meher and Soumya Sekhar Sahu's mother worked in a state college.
The February murder shocked India, and police questioned 100 mostly relatives and marriage mates.
Soumya Sekhar Sahu, a software engineer, was left dead as his 22-year-old wife Reema was severely injured when he opened a gift he had received for marriage five days after the wedding.
His 85-year-old aunt was also killed in the February 23rd explosion at their home in Patnagarh.
Police said Meher felt humiliated when the victim's mother replaced her as director of the college, as she was old.
Orisa RK Sharma police chief told reporters that Mr. Meher was planning the murder by downloading a nuclear manual from the internet and setting up the explosives at home.
He placed the bomb in a package and traveled by train to Raipur, a few miles [about 230 km] away. The teacher sent the package from there to avoid detection.
Pako made a 650 - mile [650 km] trip to three buses and passed into four people's hands before reaching Patangarh on February 20th.
The note on the package indicated that it was sent by an liaison company from Raipur.
This looks like a wedding gift,” told his 26-year-old wife before opening the package. The only thing I don't know is the sender, I don't know anybody in Raipur”.
The police had received their mobile phone records and had scanned laptops and phones belonging to the couple before Meher asked.
