Iran has warned it will have regional implications following air strikes in Syria by the United States, Britain and France coalition.
“The United States and its allies have no evidence and, there is no need to expect the Organisation for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons to respond, they carried out this military attack”, Iran's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Iran said the coalition would be “responsible for the regional consequences of this adventure action”.
Iran is a key supporter, along with Russia, of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, offering military advisers and land forces, writes The Guardian.
Tehran officials have said Western powers are using last week's alleged chemical attacks on the fortress held by Douma rebels as an excuse to undermine recent Syrian regime advances in the long civil war.
Seven Iranians were killed in an air strike on a Syrian military base Monday, which Iran claims was carried out by Israel.
