An official source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told dtt-net.com, that EULEX has played and continues to play an important role in empowering the rule of law and Kosovo institutions, and that Berlin wants the mission to continue working.
“For this reason, Germany strongly supports the continuation of EULEX's mandate for even two years, though simplifying its” tasks, the source has said.
The German stance on continuing the mandate comes after Kosovo leaders have launched the campaign to complete the European mission's work.
The EU has continued its EULEX mandate last year until the end of June of this year.
Otherwise, EULEX has started working in Kosovo in 2009.
