Germany's Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has declared on Wednesday that Germany will help Syria and neighbouring states that have sheltered Syrian refugees with $1 billion euros (1.22 billion).
“Exactly in Syria live more than 13 million people who need humanitarian aid,” said Maas.
“We should not just leave the Syrian people,” he added.

Germany is concerned over “the protection of civilian people,” Maas stressed that Germany was the “firmly set for the” effort to resume the political process to resolve the conflict.
Germany is Syria's largest supporter, helping it with 4.5 billion euros since 2012.
