President Donald Trump offers Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron the first state dinner of his mandate, today in Washington, an evening marked by a strict and very unknown protocol, as a guest list.
Breaking with tradition, Trump has gathered very few members of Congress and no media representatives.
More than 100 people are expected to take part in this official dinner, with spring tone and a multi-American menu detailed in a communique of the White House.
The last state dinner for a French representative dates back to 2014, when Francisco Hollande was hosted by Barack and Michele Obama.
Dekori
The color code selected from Melanie Trump is <x0crom and gold” for this evening in the state evening hall, located on the first floor of the White House, the western wing. The plate is from porcelain and dates back to Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. The spoons complete their fashion homes “Tiffany” and “S. Kirk and Sons”.
More than 2,500 peas and thousands of drivans will cover the hall, while there will be about 1,000 cherry branches of flowers at the entrance.
The Washington National Opera Orchestra is in charge of music that will be played in the background.
Menu Item
White House kitchen chief Cristeta Comerford presents a <x0virine of better and traditional American dishes, with shades of French influence”.
At the outset, guests will enjoy a tar with goat cheese accompanied by tomato jams, with fresh milk and lettuce crumbs. The curtains come from the White House garden.
The main dish will be in lamb's cobblet accompanied by glass and gold rice from Caroline, cooked according to New Orleans tradition, and traditional specialties with celery, peppers and onions, as well as onions.
A tart full of nectar with the left of the White House and accompanied by fresh cream ice cream will be served as desert.
Summers
Although Trump is known to hate alcohol, it offers a selection of wine that symbolizes the historic friendship between the two countries that correspond to the American Revolution.
A 2015 Chardonnay “Evenstad Reserve” of the canine “Domaine”, a variety of grapes originating from Burgonia (France) and cultivated in Oregon (SHBA), will be served.
Red wine will be a Pinot Noir “Laurène” of the “Domaine Drewhin” of 2014, also from Oregon.
As for the desert, the White House presents a champagne “Cremant” half dry from the canine “Schramsberg” which delicate sweetness and creamy foam made it a perfect companion for a nectar tart.
Guests
The official list will be published shortly before dinner, as will Melanie Trump's dress. The media speak of about 120 guests, where only one Democrat, governor of the former French Colonel Louisiana, John Bel Edwards.
IMF Director General Christine Lagarde is also invited, as is the president of the House of Representatives, Republican Paul Ryan.
