American Ambassador Ilir Meta goes to office after he was told he asked for his arrest

US Ambassador Donald Lou is at a meeting with President Ilir Meta in the presidency.

The meeting started a few minutes ago (12:55)

There are no details of what is being discussed, but the day before the media published a letter that former Adriatic prosecutor Lella had written to the American Congress saying Lu had asked him to arrest Ilir Meta, at the time he was speaker of the Parliament.

Shortly thereafter came US Ambassador Donald Lou's reaction, who denied the lie.

“Former General Prosecutor Lella is a corrupt and discredited public official who is under active investigation for money laundering and unexplained massive assets. It is not surprising that he continues to speak against reform in justice because he now risks going to prison for his corruption”

Llala's stance, Ambassador Lu, even considered it an insult to President Meta and the Albanian people.

He has claimed that within four months of my arrival in Tirana, I have told him to arrest former Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta. It's an absurd lie by Mr. Larel, no basis in fact. His insulting lie is an insult to President Meta and the Albanian people”, the ambassador's reaction concluded.
