Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg has sold nearly $500m in February to finance his philanthropic investments in Chan Zuckerberg.
This move is not surprising because Zuckerberg had long planned to sell his shares to support the organisation founded in December 2015.
He has sold 2.7 per cent worth $462.2m, Reuters news agency reported.
In September he told him he would sell between 35 and 75 million shares in the next 18 months. A simple estimate means that the executive of the social network will sell a total of $13 billion.
The billionr of the Silicon Valley has pledged to donate 99% of its Facebook shares to Chan Zuckerberg, worth $45 billion when the organisation was established.
The Zuckerberg Foundation is similar to that of Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his wife Melinda Gates.
A similar initiative has been launched by billionaire Warren Buffett with the Buffet Foundation, reports CO Albanian.
