According to a report by journalist Cetin Aydin in the daily “Hurriyet”, the Istanbul Anti-Tradic Directorate teams had spotted several Met Canan people in Turkey and had started tracking them.
A six - month investigation found that the group used Bodrum's shores for drug trafficking. During the investigation, it was found that Albanian drug user Met Canan himself would arrive in Turkey. Istanbul police immediately called for support even from Mulas Police, while Albanian police were reported.
Upon Matt Canan's arrival in Bodrum, police began following him closely. During the investigation, it was found that Matt Canan was watching the arrival of drugs by a yacht on the coast of Mulas, from the top of a hill. According to “Hurriyet”, the betting police deposited at 2:30 Tuesday morning. Albanian “Met” and 6 of his people were arrested, as well as seized 1.1 tonnes of cannabis worth over 5m euros. While in the second wave of the operation, held Thursday with the participation of 250 police officers, four more were arrested.

“Hurriyet” and “Yni Safak” report that 4 of those arrested were Albanians, while the nationality of the other 7 traffickers does not become known. According to Turkish police information, cannabis would be ready for the market and transported to Istanbul for sale.
Operation in Greece and War With Police
“Hurriyet” reports that against Met Canan, on November 29, last year, Greek police had also conducted an operation.
The operation, in which helicopters were also used for chasing the turquoise with an air-canabis, had exchange of fire between traffickers and police. After gas ran out, traffickers surrendered and Greek police seized 1.3 tonnes of cannabis, yet the Greeks failed to capture the group's Met Canan.
Canan reportedly had an important part of the Balkan drug trafficking route in his hands. According to experts, via this route, his gang sent to Europe the heroin coming from Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey, while from Europe taking cannabis and drugs that was mainly trafficked to Arab countries.
