Special UN Representative on Macedonia's Name Issue Matthew Nimetz expressed his optimism following talks between Greece and Macedonia held today in Vienna and said progress has been achieved in all directions.
“The meetings were productive and this makes me optimistic about the future”, Nimetz said in a statement after a series of meetings between the ministers of foreign affairs and those of expert committees, the ATSH reports.
I can say that, without going into detail, difficult issues were addressed, that continue to stay. Difficult issues were resolved, and in my opinion, since I have been working on this for a long time, I have a very positive feeling that the two ministers are focused on stability in the region, on the importance of good relations between the two countries, and I am hopeful that we can continue working in a positive way”, the UN special envoy who has been working on this issue for a long time stressed.
