Montenegro's “Prime Minister Dusko Markovic has welcomed ratification of the border agreement with Montenegro by the parliament of the Republic of Kosovo. We congratulate the parliamentary majority in Kosovo. This is a confirmation of our ability to resolve important disputes ourselves. This is good news for our Interstate reports, for Kosovo and for the European perspective, and the region”, said a communique issued by the Montenegrin government, Periscopi.
Ratification of this agreement is seen as fulfilling one of the main criteria for visa liberalisation.
“By ratifying the agreement, Kosovo has met one of the main conditions for visa liberalisation, and we hope that this will become a reality and a benefit for the citizens of Kosovo, and also for the citizens of Montenegro and other states of the region”, Periscopi reports.
According to them, resolving this problem testifies once again to the good neighbourly spirit between Kosovo and Montenegro.
“We are pleased that the Government of Montenegro has contributed to the solution of this problem, promoting the tradition of co-operation between Montenegro and Kosovo, in the spirit of European values and the European Commission's strategy for Western Balkan countries, as well as in the spirit of co-operation with neighbours, as a responsibility of a country that plays important roles in the region, and as a NATO member” concludes the communique.
This communique has nothing to say about the possibility of revising mistakes made during the demarcation, as the Kosovo side claims, and as the two presidents of the two countries have agreed on./Periscope. /
