Kosovo has sent orders to the European Union that it will no longer pay a cent for the energy spent in the north.
An EU message will be received in official form by Klaus Toepfer, former German Minister of Environment, who has been appointed mediator by the German government to help solve the problem of the electricity issue between Kosovo and Serbia.
“We have asked the German official to apply for the EU to pay energy spending in the coming months, until a solution is found for the blockade of the energy agreement, as Kosovo's budget cannot afford to pay off the energy spent there. We've requested that the deal be made as if it were the phone”, a senior Kosovo Government official told KTV on condition of anonymity.
He has announced that expectations are that within three months the energy agreement will be unblocked.
The government has refused to provide more information about this meeting, in addition to the content of the issued communiqué.
The German official has also met with COST heads, but even the officials of this company have refused to provide more details.
The chief of talks with Serbia, Avni Arifi, has confirmed to KTV that the energy issue will be discussed at the next meeting between the two countries in Brussels.
The EU has confirmed that the new meeting will be held this month.
The energy deal is one of the agreements that hasn't moved at all.
Serbia continues to block it, committing violations with the Serbian company's census in the country's north.
The same registration app was submitted, but the same was contrary to the agreement reached.
Because of this blockade, Transmission and Market System Operator is not being able to join the European Transmission Network, despite met conditions.
As a result of this blockade, a few days ago, Kosovo has caused major energy problems throughout Europe.
NTSO has announced that Kosovo has attracted 113 gigaves of energy more than energy production, causing gap in energy supply.
As a result of this action, the frequency of the European network had declined to nearly six minutes.
It is estimated that Kosovo needs up to about 5m euros to compensate for energy shortages.
