Mexican authorities have begun criminal proceedings against the four policemen who are accused of having been involved in the disappearance of 3 Italian tourists in their country.
Men from Naples have been last seen on January 31st, in Tekallan, in the state of Halisko. The governor of this state said the officers have admitted to handing the Italians over to a local criminal gang.
The son of one of the missing men said on an Italian radio that all three have been sold to this gang for 43 euros, but Mexican authorities do not confirm this information.
It is not clear why Raffaele Russo (60), his 25-year-old son Antonio, and his 29-year-old nephew Vincenzo Cimmino, had gone to Tekallan, an area controlled by Halisko's New Belt, one of Mexico's largest criminal gangs.
