Heavy snowfalls predicted during the morning led to hundreds of flights to New York airports.
About 470 flights, or about 37% of the total planned for departure or arrival at the JFK International Airport, were cancelled around 0900 locally, 550 flights or 44% for the international Newark airport and 485 (42%) for La Guardia Airport, which primarily connects American states, according to the web that follows the Flightware flights.
The agency that oversees the three airports, the Portual Authority, which has been widely criticised for the chaos created after massive snowfalls in early January, suggested that each airport had taken equipment with portable beds, blankets, diapers and baby milk as a precautionary measure, Atsh attended.
