German state offers support to Kosovo in field of trade, industry

Hasani cited the ministry's priorities leading, in particular harmonisation of full legislation with the SAA, fulfillments of obligations dating back to the SAA, the life of the Strategic Investment Law and Kosovo priorities in CEFTA.

He said orientation of MTI policies would be in favour of small and medium-sized enterprises to increase production and export capacity.

“We from receiving the mandate, which is taking place about six months, have been trying to push off certain laws that have not been in full harmony with the SAA. We've worked hard in this direction and there are about ten laws that have been prosecuted in government. We have oriented our policies on supporting small- and medium-sized enterprises and promoting investments. In supporting small enterprises, we are well-oriented in improving product reform, supporting businesses to increase production capacities, which through this aim to increase export, open up new jobs and focus on the economic development of our Republic”, Hasani said.

The minister also cited the first applicant to obtain the status of the Strategic Investors, which is a company with German-Kosovo capital and will invest 130m euros in solar energy.

Minister Hasani also cited the Doing Business report Kosovo is ranked 40th.

“We are drafting tourism policies, strengthening property rights protection, quality infrastructure in general, and creating a business-making environment, which Kosovo is well ranked last year at 40, according to the World Bank report. We are expecting progress this year again, with the adoption of the Trade Society Law. We've given him a lot of credit guarantees. Supporter of this fund is also the German Bank for Development and Reconstruction”, Hasani said.

Helge Tolksdorf, director for EU enlargement, Southeast Europe and Turkey at Germany's Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the Western Balkans is in constant priority for the German state.

The Western Balkans will consistently be an important German foreign policy point. The good news is that since Kosovo's independence we have doubled the bilateral trade exchange, and Kosovo has a huge potential that can be exploited”, Tolksdorf said.

He praised and encouraged Minister Hasani to harmonise legislation with the EU and meet the criteria leading up to the SAA.

He also gave assurances to Minister Hasani that the German state will be Kosovo's powerful partner in developing economic policies and offered support for experts in areas the MTI needs.
