EU pressures Kosovo to start establishing association as soon as possible

Kosovo will carry out its part of the commitment to establishing association, soon forming the Management Team, which will deal with drafting the statute for its formation. Thus has the country's president, Hashim Thaci, reports KTV.

Thaci has said he expects the comprehensive agreement with Serbia to be reached within this year.

But Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq has said that the association of Serbian municipalities is not even mentioned at the meeting.

“We've discussed all other things, except for the Association, and this can't just be the fault of Albanians. For 5 years, even the worst wars, and the Association of Serbian municipalities has not been established, Vuciqi has said, taking offense at Haradinaj's statement that there has been no time to address the issue.

The foundation of association has also called for the European Union.

“High Representative Moghrin has stressed the importance that the EU gives full implementation of all agreements reached and stressed in particular the urgent need to start with the establishment of Association/ Community of Serb majority municipalities, the Energy Agreement, as well as finish works on opening the Bridge on Iber”.

This is the first summit this year, and in advance the two presidents have stayed in the US for co-ordination with Americans. With this meeting, the last phase of political dialogue with the EU, which expects the most distant next year, begins to have a comprehensive agreement between the parties.
