Erdogan said Monday that Turkish intelligence and the Iraqi government are involved in a military operation in Sinyar, a region located on the border between Iraq and Turkey, reports “Al Jazeera”, Periscopi broadcast.
He confirmed reports that members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), viewed by Ankara as “terrorists”, withdrew from Sinari and Iraq.
“We hope that the Iraqi government will carry out this operation in the best way,” said Erdogan, adding that Turkey will “intervene” if the Iraqi government fails.
A group linked to the PKK has quoted Kurdish media who said PKK fighters have been withdrawn from Sinyar.
The Kurdish statement has emerged following Turkey's state ultimatum that has threatened them with another war if they do not leave Sinyar.
The PKK has been located in Sinyar since 2014 when the Yazidi minority had been helped who had been persecuted by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Livant ( ISIL also known as I SIS). /Periscopi/
