Lack of essential conditions in Kosovo hospitals has prompted thousands of Kosovars to seek medical treatment abroad. Statistics show that for a year nearly two thousand people seek healing outside the country's hospitals.
In the first two months of this year around 300 Kosovars have sought healing abroad.
Information officials from the Health Ministry have announced to “Zerin” that last year nearly 2,000 citizens have sought medical treatment abroad, while this government dictatorship has so far spent over 12m euros.
The head of the Parliamentary Commission for Health, Labour and Social Management, Besa Buffiu, has told “Zerin” that local hospitals lack basic health items and also lack of leukemia drugs, which are not finding healing in the country.
On the other hand, even though patients are seeking to go for healing in countries where they are recommended, there are times when they are denied requests and should be sent to another country.
However, not every Kosovar has been able to find healing abroad. The month-old Leka family from Gjilan after returning from Turkey, where it was being treated, has died of the disease.
However, for treatment abroad officials from embassies say B1 and B2 visas are needed, which, according to them, are provided in accelerated procedures.
