Belgian meat company, “Vanlomel”, whose meat had been destroyed in September 2016 by the Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV), has said that meat had been sent to Kosovo by mistake.
In an interview for Belgium Radio Television, RTBF, manager for sale at the company “Vanlommel” has argued that the meat that was sent incorrectly to Kosovo, since the same was destined for animal food.
The company “Vanlommel” has said it is an involuntary error and has rejected any fraud.
Meanwhile, the Antwerp Prosecutor in Belgium has announced he started an investigation three months ago. In January of this year, for the rotten meat the company “Vanlommel” had exported to Kosovo.

Everything had started in September 2016, when the Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) doubted the quality of 20 tons of meat that had been launched from Belgium to Kosovo. AUV had announced the Federal Agency for Security of Belgium's Food Network (FASFC).
The Belgian agency had sent an inspector to Kosovo to check and verify the quality of the meat the company “Vevaba” had attempted to export to Kosovo.
