Disfellowshipment of the Kosovo Agency for Accreditation by the European Register for the Security of Quality at Higher Education (EQAR), according to U. KSF, it's bad news for students, professors, and our country. The UPPSK says this case should be an alarm for our institutions so that in their political actions they will be careful, as moving away from such an important mechanism for higher education is a serious blow to Kosovo's higher education system.
The consequences of this exception are not limited to students who want to study abroad. They affect Kosovo's future and are a blow to Kosovo's European orientation. Independence from politics and the easy exchange of students, staff and ideas are among the main values of higher education in the European Union. Political interference in higher education institutions goes against both of these values. They harm the credibility of Kosovo education and isolate our students”, the UPPSK response said.
This student organisation estimates that Kosovo's exclusion from ECAR turns the country 20 years back because “Kosovo has been among the few Western Balkan countries that have been part of such an important mechanism for quality in higher education”.
“MANT has known since November that the AKA may be expelled from ECAR and has been neglecting all these months as exclusion from this mechanism has been prepared. We invite all relevant parties, which at least now that the decision has been made to take all necessary measures for Kosovo to return to this” mechanism, says U n PSK in this reaction.
Ensuring the independence of the AKA and other institutions of higher education, according to the UPPSK, should be a priority for Kosovo.
The oldest student organisation proposes that, in the future, KSHC members of the AKA will be elected from the Parliament of Kosovo through a procedure that allows the candidacy and proposal of all candidates prepared for the position, “not only to be limited to the circle of people that recognises the minister”.
We remember days ago, ECAR disclosed that the AKA has been excluded from this institution due to political interference that took place in the Kosovo Agency of Discension.
