Leaving foreign phone codes and operating the state code +383 will remove one of the main financial burdens from the country's telephone operators. That is because millions of costs will be lifted that operators have spent on using telephone codes from other countries, Koha Ditore writes today.
According to the Electronic Communications and Posting Authority (ARKEP), the amount of direct access to these codes amounts to over 220m euros. With the implementation of the new code and the removal of the resulting codes, according to this authority, operators will not be charged at this cost.
“The integration of the +383 telephone code assigned by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in addition to other priorities it has for Kosovo and the electronic communications market in particular, one of the greatest benefits is economic. Operators of electronic communications networks, particularly mobile phones, will no longer need to pay for the use of phone codes of other countries. The untold cost of using these codes has been over 220m euros, which have been the direct cost”, said the ARKEP's response.
