Urology faces shortages of essential device

The lack of equipment at the Urology Clinic near the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo is causing many patients to seek healing abroad.

The absence of Persian litotry is causing many patients who trouble kidney stones and urinary systems to undergo open surgery.

Thus has KosovoPress director of Urology Clinic Rexhep Kasumaj, who said the priority for this clinic remains the device with this uroscope, which in addition to treatment of stones can produce other endourological interventions.

The most priority and most important device for us would be the Persian litotry, which can be realized through a device called uroscope, which in addition to treating large kidney stones, we can achieve many other endourological interventions of our patients. Patients who have stones or components with larger dimensions than 2.5 centimeters all of those cases are treated with surgical surgery, while if we had this Persian litoripsis device, it would be possible for these patients to be treated without surgery”, he said.

According to him, this device affects that the patient is easier and faster to return to normal after surgery.

Kasumaj for Kosova priss has indicated that in the absence of Persian litoripsis, many patients are forced out of the country to conduct interventions to remove stones from kidneys or urinary systems that range over 2.5cm of size.

It is a huge requirement for such treatment to be treated abroad, if all patients were to provide this device, we can treat them in our clinic, and in this case, a lot of money would be saved, and our patients would no longer wander across urological centres abroad for such treatment“, he said.

Urology Clinic Director Rexhep Kasumaj has declared that in December 2017 they have applied to the Health Ministry for the purchase of this device and are now awaiting an answer from the ministry.

In addition to the lack of litotpisity equipment, the urology lacks the Laparascopic tools Kasumaj has said that many different pathologists in kidneys and urinary systems would be carried out without open surgical interference.

“We also miss the Laparascope, although it is not a priority for our conditions, but it would be a very important device for laboscopic interventions where it would become possible that various pathologies in the kidney or in the other urinary system would be made possible without classical surgical intervention”, he said.

The office of the general director of USKKUK, via E-mail to Kosova Prees, has announced there are 1.9m euros earmarked for medical equipment purchase.

Of them for the Urology Clinic, more than 100 thousand euros have been earmarked for the purchase of various equipment in this clinic.

According to this report, a commission has been appointed that has detailed all the requests of clinics, in collaboration with clinic directors as well.

According to them, equipment for surgical and child health clinics - pediatrics, neonatology, and gynecology - will be a priority.

The appearance of kidney stones and urinary organs is most often presented between 35 and 50 years of age.
