Upset students warn protests in spring

The Student Parliament of the University of Pristina has warned protests if their demands are not met, writes Periscopi.

In their announcement, it is seen that part of the requirements are mainly improving infrastructure in faculties.

The Student Parliament of the University of Pristina “Hasan Pristina” as the highest student representation body at the University of Pristina, looking at the current situation at several UP faculties, lack of space and other conditions needed to have quality we require from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, for rhetoric to want quality at Pristina University to turn into practice.

On the constant side of the STAT ministers have been declared years of quality and as seen by the current minister in 2018 will be declared a year of quality in education. But it's like in the past now, it's only going to be declarative and not something serious in this direction.

The budget shared by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for education is a clear market on how seriously the education minister is, respectively. Shorty Bytyqi wants to freeze the quality in higher education. So education is not their priority.

We as the Student Parliament have consistently stated that the situation in higher education cannot be changed if the budget destined for higher education does not increase.

So, from the Ministry of Education, we ask that immediate measures be taken for:

1. Enhancing Investments at the University of Pristina,
   1.1. Building the Faculty of Natural Mathematics (FSHMN)
   1,2 Construction of the Faculty of Economics, Jurydic.
2. The use of schools in scientific research labs.
3. The equipment of Albanian-language-freer Librarys, providing access to international platforms online.
4. State co-operation University for providing student labor opportunities.
5. Ensuring professional practice in institutions or state or private agencies.

( MAST in co-operation with the University should create opportunities through intermediations with various social and private agencies to provide professional practice for students with the aim of skills for the labour market.

If our demands are not met, we do not rule out protests in the spring.
