Kosovo President Hashim Thaci says that on this eve of the 10th anniversary of Kosovo's independence, the state has marked progress in all spheres.
“These ten years have been the year of state consolidation, of 115 international recognitions, of Kosovo membership in many and many international organisations, of continuing economic development, have been years of partnership with the United States, The EU and NATO have been years of reducing reports with Serbia, improving the situation in the north, thus years of joint and domestic and international efforts. Thanks to the joint work done in Kosovo, local institutions, consultations with the international community, we have managed to successfully complete the supervision of independence. Throughout this period, close co-operation with international bodies has been maintained, which despite concessions has preserved the situation in Kosovo”, Thaci has declared, broadcasts Periscopi.
“He has said it is time for Kosovo authorities to take on the responsibilities they are entitled to. But there must be prejudices now that it is time for Kosovo justice authorities to take on the responsibility they face. In these 10 years, multiple investments have been made in all areas of daily and functional life. Efforts have been to build new Kosovo, development spirit and Euro-Atlantic. Now on this threshold of the 10th anniversary of Kosovo's independence, we are in a new situation even in developments in the region. In a few days, the EU strategy for Western Balkan countries will be introduced. Even at the last meeting I held with Commissioner Hahn in Davos, Switzerland, we have discussed Kosovo's steps. I appreciate that the Balkans have never been more relaxed, but also with clear vision as to the state's future for NATO integration”, Thaci has said, writes Periscopi.
Thaci has said he hopes that Kosovo will fulfil all international obligations, repeating again that CHAai is optimistic that MPs will ratify the demarcation
“Kosovo has a future and it is the European future. I thank the United States, the EU and NATO that have shot us close to these years in building our” institutions, he has said.
Thaci says Kosovo is going through similar processes like the countries of the region, citing the sea case between Greece and Albania and the issue of the name dispute between Macedonia and Greece.
Kosovo will face other challenges in particular when we have the moment for visa liberalisation. I am optimistic that we will fulfill all obligations in this matter. We must and will carry out our duties. I want to hope in the political sphere, in political leaders, and I hope that the MPs in the future will implement demarcation so that in the future we can move freely like all citizens of the region. Albania today discusses the issue of sea closure with Greece on the name issue. On the other hand, Kosovo will continue to invest strongly in consolidating the dialogue process with Serbia as the precondition for normality, peace and reconciliation”, he has said.
He has wrapped up his speech to reporters, saying this year will also be the year of the conclusion of dialogue with Serbia.
“Viti 2018 will be the year of closing a final agreement with Serbia”, he has said.
Responding to journalists' questions, Thaci has given his entire presentation in this sentence: “10 years is very little for building a state. ”/Periscopi/
