Police in Slovakia said an investigative journalist has been shot dead at his home, along with his girlfriend.
Slovak police chief Tibor Gaspar said Jan Kukak, 27, and his partner were found dead at their home in the town of Velka Maca, 65km east of Bratislava.
Gaspar said the killings seem to have something to do with the journalist's research activities.
Slovakia “has never experienced such an attack on a journalist”, Gaspar said.
Kuciac has been working for the Currentity.sk portal.
His latest report, on February 9th, has dealt with an alleged tax fraud in connection with a luxury apartment complex in Bratislava.
The case over this complex has sparked protests last year in search of Interior Minister Robert Kalinak's resignation for his business relations with a property developer. Both have denied any wrongdoing.
