Syrian Human Rights Monitor has announced that the pilot left before the plane crashed.
No further details have yet been given about it, since it is unknown which group has hit the plane or who is caught by the pilot.
Some images published on social networks present images that the plane has been hit, while parts of the same plane are seen burning on the ground.
Russia, along with the Syrian allies, has had a goal for rebels in this area.
Syrian government troops had launched an operation around the Idlib region in December last year supported by Russian planes.
According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 civilians have been displaced from this area.
The Russian Air Force's losses have been rare since this country's 2015 campaign in Syria.
But at least five people died after a plane crashed in Syria in August 2016.
