Members of the Kosovo Protection Corps had accepted the promotion by Thaci, who had done it at the time. But after nearly 19 years, Rexhep Selimi is refusing to be promoted by Hashim Thaci.

In a list published in the media, Hashim Thaci was planning to decorate former KLA commander Rexhep Selimin, now deputy of Vetevendosje.

But Selimi is refusing to be decorated by Thaci. He says the decorations from him didn't honor any KLA fighter.

I saw in the media a long list of decorated ones issued by the Kosovo president's office on the occasion of 10 years of Independence. That's where I saw my name. But I REFUZOJ accept decorations from a person like Thaci. His tribute does not honor me or any KLA fighter. I refuse to accept decorations from the one who sells Kosovo land today, as he so far sold war ideals to the KLA”, Selimi wrote.
