Merkel: Turkish Prime Minister's Visit, Positive Signal

German Chancellor hosted Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim in Berlin for talks that must first confirm the beginning of improved relations between the two NATO partners.

But she made it known that the time had not yet come to turn the page.

“Visita in Berlin of Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim represents a positive signal to both sides to improve Turkish-German relations and bring them on the basis of common values, but at the moment it is not easy”, Merkel told the press.

“We know that our bilateral relations have passed a difficult phase and continue to be in such a phase”, the Chancellor stressed.

Meanwhile, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım at the joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel stressed that Turkey expected greater support from friends in the fight against terrorism.
