The UN Security Council failed to reconcile after a second day of intensive talks on a proposed 30-day ceasefire across Syria to allow emergency humanitarian remittances and medical evacuations.

Talks at UN headquarters in New York attended an appeal by French and German leaders to Vladimir Putin, demanding that Russia stop blocking the crossing of the move, pointing to the dire situation of the trapped civilian population in the rebel enclave of eastern Guta, located on the outskirts of Damascus.
The draft resolution calls for a nationwide ceasefire that will enter into force within 72 hours of its adoption, but it is not clear how forces in Syria will respond even if it was adopted. /Periscopi/
