The Pristina municipality and Thermokos introduced the master plan today for rehabilitation and expansion of the central heating system in Pristina.
The Masterplane has been jointly drafted by Thermocos and the Pristina municipality, already funded by the German government through KfW.
The central heating system in Pristina was built in 1970 and initially offered the most mazut heating. In November 2014, the heating system was locked in the Kosova B thermal power plant, which had been turned into a co-generating thermal power plant.
The project has been funded through a project of more donors via the KfW of Thermokos with a total of about 37m euros.
The current capacity of the co-generation system is 140 MW, this capacity that can be extracted from only one or both TC-Kosovo B turbines.
Masterplane's main objective is to reduce CO2 emissions and reduce air pollution in Pristina.
Finally, the German government has pledged a 10m-euro grant for investments in the rehabilitation and expansion of the central heating system in Pristina, investments that will be realised based on Masterplane recommendations.
Moreover, the Luxembourg government will also join the project with a 2.5m-euro grant.
