Albania first in the world for population bar numbers

According to the latest data of the INSTAT-2016 Structural Survey in Albania, the number of bar-cafes and restaurants has reached 18,795 (14,200 bars and 3,965 bar restaurants), with an increase of 6.3% in reports of the previous year (opened around 1200 new bars-cafe in one year and 96 bar-restorant) In [...]
According to the population of 2.87 million people, in Albania there are 654 coffee bars for 100,000 people, or 1 bar cafe for 152 people, writes Monitor.al.
Albania passed it to both 2016 and Spain, which so far held the record in the European Union (BE) and the world for the high number of bar cafes for residents, with 592 coffee bars for 100,000 people, or a bar of coffee for 169 residents, according to a recent EU study.
Up until a year ago, Albania was second in the world after Spain, but in Spain the last four years have closed about 7,000 bars and restaurants due to the crisis, according to Spanish media (Spanja has 47 million people).
The opposite has happened in Albania. In four years 2013-2016, according to INSTAT data, 4,569 bar cafes and 1,160 new bar-restorants have been opened, while the population is in contraction. With crisis or no crisis, bars continue to open, people continue to frequent, causing foreigners to be surprised at their large number and the time that Albanians spend on them especially during the day.
