“A deal was reached on how the armies of Moscow and Ankara will continue to co-ordinate their actions on the ground to eradicate the terrorist threat”, Sergei Lavrov said.
The two countries' diplomatic and defence leaders met in Moscow to discuss Syria. After the talks, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told the news agency, “Anadolu” that Turkey and Russia share the goal of clearing Syrian territory of all terrorist organisations.
The meeting comes after the announcement of the Syrian Army's entry into Manbidge, a city controlled by Kurds.
Ankara considers the area very important in the fight against PKK militants. It does not look forward to the entry of Syrian government troops into the city, unlike the Kremlin, which views it as a logical step toward restoring Syrian sovereignty.
