Experts sound the alarm for the threat of patients performing medical equipment. Recent records speak of 1,000 deaths in three years, due to chest plants, rhythm stimulants and other surgical plants.
Senior English government officials say there is not enough to protect people from dangerous medical treatments. An investigation found that 62,000 problems were reported with medical plants between 2015 and 2018, and over this period more than 1,000 people died. Figures taken by the Health Medicine and Care Regulatory Agency revealed the extent of problems caused by medical plants.
Experts warn rules on setting equipment are not strict. Of the 15,436 reported problems so far in 2018, only 231 cases have been carried out in misprocedure. The president of the Royal College of Surgeons said the findings underline the need for drastic changes in the regulator, adding that many devices are introduced without proper work or safe evidence.
Last year, the government suspended the use of vaginal web, the implant to address the hip prolaps, performed by about 100,000 women in the last decade. About 50,000 British women who were subjected to the breast plant were warned that cancer could be endangered as a result of the industrial silicon used.
