(15 hours ago)An Australian woman has brought four identical girls, naturally conceived, to life in a pregnancy that doctors have described as among the rarest and most dangerous ever recorded.
Four babies were born in cesarean surgery on 14 July, on the 28th week of pregnancy, at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
According to the medical team, it is about monosygotics -- a very rare phenomenon where a single fertilized egg is divided into four identical embryos, the BBC writes, broadcasts Klankosova.tv.
The mother, 34-year-old Yenitar Naʹamoana, and her husband, Jortham, who are parents of four other children, said the news that four orphans were expecting was a big surprise.
The obstetrician doctor and fetonic medicine specialist Alexa Bendall, who has been following the pregnancy from the very beginning, estimated that the natural births of identical fours occur only once in about 15 million pregnancies.
She pointed out that the case was even more unusual, since all four babies shared the same placenta.
