Ambassador of the United States Philip Costett has historicly praised the adoption of laws on the formation of the Kosovo Army, while European Union officials have said Kosovo's military should be done through constitutional changes.
The Kosovo Assembly today will adopt the Bill for the Ministry of Defence, for the Kosovo Security Force and the KSF Service Bill, through which the KSF's mandate will be changed from civilian to military, but without changing its name.
US Ambassador to Pristina Philip Kosnett has backed this decision, while European Union spokeswoman Maja Kocijanciq has said of “Zerin” that the EU continues to insist that the army be made in line with the Kosovo Constitution.
“The EU continues to share NATO and US clear views that the KSF's mandate should be changed only through a comprehensive process in line with the Constitution”, Kocijanciq said of “Zrin”.
