The one-hour strike, called by the United Education, Science and Culture Union of Kosovo, has responded 99 per cent to all educational institutions. And if there are no reflections of responsible institutions this union warns that by January 14th of next year, they will go on strike until their demands are met.
This strike has come after objections that this union has on the bill on wages, as they estimate they have been discriminated against compared to other sectors.
During the SBASK Steering Day, strikers visited the school “Dr. Ibrahim Rugova”, Obilic. In this case, SBASK Chairman Nundman Jashari has said this is the last warning for Kosovo institutions and that if there are no reflections they will be put on strike indefinitely.
The wage law is extremely discriminated against, starting with nests and then the pre-graduate education system, but the administrations in universities are not well with this law. We will make every effort not to go as such but to become correction, as Prime Minister Haradinaj and Minister Bytyqi have promised. This strike is the last alarm, I'm saying I wish Kosovo institutions would work properly, improve the cofficient for the entire educational system. On the contrary, the entire educational system, as well as the nursery, pre-school education, and universities on January 14th of 2019 will be on strike, which will be an indefinite strike and end only when our demands will be realised”, he said.
Jashari said the demand is for any co-efficiency in education to grow by 30 per cent.
Meanwhile, the deputy chairman of the SBASK branch in the Obilic municipality, Imer Hamiti, has announced that all educational institutions of this municipality have responded to the one-hour strike.
“Qind all Obilic municipality schools support the strike. This strike is in the best interests of Kosovo's youth -- to the benefit of the state of Kosovo -- to the benefit of parents, children and is imposed on the Government. Therefore, we are co-operative in our actions”, he said.
Kimete Gruda, is a first-class teacher at the “Dr school. Ibrahim Rugova”, in Obilic, which says the salary you get is not enough for the work they did.
I think for teachers it's very low for the work we do with these kids very sensitive. Considering that there are children who with the comfort of the first grade is very difficult, adopting the child yesterday is very hard and hard work”, she said.
The one-hour crèche strike has been between 7:00 and 8:00, while in all Kosovo schools the strike has been held at the first hour of all shifts, while at Pristina University the strike has been held between 8:00 and 9:00. /M. Duraku.
