British national lawyer Mladet Kesar, has admitted to the liberal Serbian newspaper '%Danas that the trial has begun against the Serbian Orthodox Church for the sexual abuse of priests against their 6 followers, in this case sexual victims.
The charges were filed at one of the courts in London, where you expected the start date of the trial process to be made public, broadcast newspapers.net.
None of the priests will be tried individually, but the charge is entirely addressed to the Serbian Orthodox Church (KOS), because the latter generally maintains the conduct of all its self-cephatic clergy.
Sexual abuses have occurred in various dioceses in the state of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia. While, the six victims; two natives, two women, and a 19-year-old Orthodox religious school student who died suspiciously in 1999 are victims seeking justice. The sixth victim is also the mother of the 19-year-old who, for his death, accuses the now retired Bishop, Vasilie Kacavenda, for whom they seek justice in London, because they do not trust Serbian courts for fear they are influenced by KOS politics and great power.
We believe this is in public interest not only because victims are denied legal protection in their countries of origin. The number of pedophiles in the Serbian Orthodox Church is unknown, but it is certainly not small. They are protected, and priests often move from diocese to diocese, including outside. We do not think that priests prone to such conduct have already moved to Western countries or can be transferred to the future”, the defence lawyer Kesar said.
Some Serbian media have sought answers about this topic from the Serbian Orthodox Church, but have not responded. Also, this news is silent, even from the leading Serbian national media. /Periscopi
