20 years ago at the “Panda” cafe, which was located near the “school. Sveti Zara” in Pec, which served as a meeting point for young people, had lost 6 high schoolers ' lives. On the night of December 14th at that cafe, two masked and armed persons of the Milosevic regime opened fire on the group of young people inside the cafe.
And today, even after 20 years, there is still no one charged with the crime. On the 20th anniversary of the murder of young people, the Fund for Humanitarian Law has organised the public lecture “Today, 20 years ago: Panda”
Bekim Blakaj, director of the Humanitarian Law Fund, said this case is still unclear after 20 years.
“Those who have suffered most, and still suffer are their families. In this case, families haven't had the statistics not only find them right, it means judging those who did, but haven't found the truth. So they don't know exactly what happened and for the worse they don't know exactly who the perpetrators of this crime are, and what were the motives behind this”, he said.
Legalising this topic, Dea Dedi said this case over the years has served on charges and against charges of politicians in Serbia.
“Over the years this case became the target of charges and against charges through powerful political experts in Serbia. Various types of installations were mentioned in the Serbian media, though there was no official news. During all this time, the victims ' families have failed to stop trying to establish justice for their children. Those in various forms have been addressed to Serbia's state institutions, respectively, all Serbian governments since the Kosovo post-war”, it has added.
Dede also said, the purpose of this discourse is to honour the victims who lost their lives 20 years ago.
We today are gathered to honor the civilian victims who lost their lives 20 years ago today. The findings and facts that will be presented here before you are based on statements of eyewitnesses, victims' families and found by courts and media”, Dedi said.
In Pec's Kapisha neighbourhood, within 3-4 days, about 150 Albanians were arrested. The arrests were also in the villages and other neighborhoods of Pec. 6 people were sentenced to one year in prison.
Dea Dedi has called on relevant institutions to clarify the case for these people. The six young people executed by the Serb community in Pec were Kosovo residents.
During this speech by the speakers, the fact was not stressed that this crime was committed by the Milosevic regime, which Serbia's president, Alekdandar Vukic, has also accepted.
This fact has shocked the families of the victims, as in the case of Panda committed and insisted by the Milosevic regime, many young Albanians had been terrorised and tortured as suspected of committing crime. / KP
