If you feel that drinking orange juice in the morning can improve your health, you should get acquainted with the results of the study, published in “appetite”.
Scientists have found that frequent consumption of fruit juice increases the risk of heart disease and stroke.
Scientists from Australia have conducted this study to ascertain whether natural fruit juices improve or make health worse. While natural fruit fluids are always a better choice than sweetened or soft fluids, they are sometimes harmful.
Unlike fruit, fruit juices will not give you a sense of satisfaction because they do not contain fibers. Hence, it is much easier to consume a higher number of calories than when eating a fresh tree.
160 healthy adults participated in the study. Participants had to complete a questionnaire involving questions regarding their eating habits. Researchers then measured the blood pressure level to participants.
The results of the study showed that people who drank juices each day had a higher risk of developing high blood pressure than did their peers who drank juice occasionally or rarely.
However, the results of the research should not yet be considered in applying healthy eating habits because the samples of participants were small, and researchers had not considered other factors, besides eating habits.
It should be realized, however, that fruit juices also contain calories. About 250ml orange juice contains 80 calories.
With these calories does not come components that make us feel satisfied, as is the case with raw fruits, so it is almost always a better choice to bypass fluids.
