Health experts raise the alarm: Within 10 years there will be no more of this diabetes drug

In 2030, 40 million diabetes will not have insulin. As the number of people living with diabetes continues to grow, access to the necessary insulin is facing increased demand, and soon there may be problems.

According to a new study, by 2030, 79 million adults with Type 2 diabetes are expected to need insulin to manage the disease, and if current access levels will follow, only half of them may be able to obtain the amount they need. Study published in the newspaper “Lancet”, “Diabeth and endocrinology”, underscores that access to insulin will be particularly difficult in areas of Africa, Asia and Oceania, which will be affected most.

“These estimates show that the current level of access to insulin does not match the projected need and much effort should be made to overcome this”, said Sanjay Basu, professor at Stanford University.

Insulin is needed to treat all individuals affected by Type 1 diabetes and others affected by Type 2. This recent form of the disease is closely related to such life factors as obesity, lack of diet, or lack of physical activity. Experts say the number of diabetes affected will increase, so measures for insulin must be taken. Worldwide, the number of Type 2 adults will rise from 406 million to 2018 to 511 million in 2030.
