The EU office in Pristina has called on the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to reconsider the new decision, under which even the internationally recognised states that are introduced from Serbia to Kosovo will be taxed 100 per cent.
“E have seen with concern Kosovo's decision to extend the 100 per cent fee even for internationally recognised brand products of other countries, including EU countries, which are produced in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina”, the EU office communique said.
According to them, setting these tariffs does not contribute to good neighbourly relations in the region and conflicts with the agreements and commitments Kosovo has made.
“We want to repeat the message of the EU, that setting tariffs does not contribute to good neighbourly relations, and that conflicts with Kosovo's commitment towards regional integration and commitments taken by the signing of the SAA”, the response continues.
The EU office in Pristina has called on the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to reconsider the decision and revote the tax.
This would be the right decision for Kosovo and its people to advance towards European aspirations for the present and the future”, the Apostolov office says.
Meanwhile, it has been called for both Kosovo and Serbia to refrain from actions that would conflict with the EU's call for regional co-operation.
Yesterday's Minister of Trade and Industry, Andrew Shala, has announced the decision made by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to introduce a list of international interiors in the tax ruling.
The list of nine international insides entering Kosovo from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina without a 100 percent measure has been eliminated. Already all products from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina will be subject to 100 per cent mass.
The government of the Republic of Kosovo has imposed a 100-to-all tariff trade measure on products originating from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina on November 21st 2018. Exceptions from this measure have several internationally recognised brands or houses. After numerous requests for incriminating on this list, we have analyzed these complaints, and their eventual introduction to the list that is excluded from the tax, then it would also lose the meaning of tax”, Shala wrote on his Facebook account.
