PDK MP Blerta Deliu-Codra has said Kosovo has met all criteria for visa liberalisation, including demarcation and the fight against corruption, and has been expected to receive positive signals, but postponing this process is the worst news for citizens at this end.
She made these comments at the extraordinary Kosovo Assembly session, which is being held at the opposition's request for visa liberalisation, following yesterday's statement by European Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn that there will be no removal of the visa regime by 2020. Deliu-Kodra criticised the opposition about its reaction to visa liberalisation, saying Kosovo will continue with its work in strengthening institutions, to bring the country closer to its Euro-Atlantic journey, while added that the EU must deal with Kosovo the same as other countries in the region, which have earlier benefited from this process.
Moreover, MP Deliu-Codra said citizens are eligible to be discouraged with European Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn's statement that there will be no lifting of the visa regime by 2020. She stressed that it is bad news that Kosovo is not part of the visa removal agenda this year, as the liberalisation of the barrels would bring Kosovo closer to the EU and facilitate citizens' travel to the countries of the Shengen Zone.
