Berisha says he heard about the partition of Kosovo for the first time in 1992: The idea was revived in 2005

The former prime minister and former president of Albania, Sali Berisha, has indicated that when he first heard ideas about partitioning Kosovo.

Berisha has said on T7 television that “for the first time, the problem of partitioning Kosovo I heard in 1992”.

“From the end of 1992, and then times”, Berisha added.

He has recalled that Greece, then led by Prime Minister Konstantinos Mitsotakis, has had plans to tear Kosovo apart.

The plan for partitioning Kosovo has been revived in 2005, the former Albanian leader has indicated.

Berisha has said in T7 that Kosovo's fragmentation was spoken of that year in Thessaloniki at a meeting of Balkan leaders, less than a month after he became Albania's prime minister.

“was Vuk Draskovic's offer”, Berisha has recalled, referring to the writer of the Serbian politician.

“I have flatly refused. I said that I do not accept such a option, because it is the version of the Great Serbia”, he stressed.
