Bahtiri urges Government to submit proposal for Mitrovica union to Parliament

I have called for uniting the city of Mitrovica into a single municipality, as has always been, the requirement which has been supported by all political parties in the Mitrovica municipality Assembly. Meanwhile, the government now has to take concrete action to amend the relevant law, which would make Mitrovica with a single municipality.

Specific political circles are opposing this initiative, but not rejecting actions to partition Kosovo from Serb majority municipalities to the north. So how is it that I don't have the right to work for uniting the city, which has always been one and only, and another one of my Serbian colleagues has the right to seek the partition of Kosovo?

I know exactly what I want and I am deeply convinced that the union will happen, which I will testify to the near future. However, I am sorry that central institutions do not have this information, which they should have.

I call on the Government of Kosovo to act as soon as possible and to send the proposal for changing the law that would unite Mitrovica into a municipality, because there is no way but to unite the city.

Those called to the Ahtisaari Plan must know that it is a implemented and exceeded project that has brought Kosovo independence. However, Kosovo cannot remain hostage to any plan and no man, but must develop a cross-line that makes Kosovo's independent and sovereign state functional.
