Your style of communication has changed.
Of course, you may have those moments where you're very angry with each other and you don't want to talk for hours, but clinical psychologist Joseph Cillona, Psy.D., in Manhattan, says that dysfunctional changes in the way a couple communicates are a red flag. For example, if you previously did not raise your voice and now cannot argue without shouting, that is a problem.
Fight all the time
Great and evident increases in the frequency and intensity of the conflict that are ongoing over time can be strong indications that a marriage can move toward divorce.
Live a Divided Life
While you may need to relax in separate rooms after an argument, actually having a literal break, such as not telling each other where you are or making big life plans without each other is another sign of divorce.
Blame each other for your problems
It's easy to think it's your partner's fault for everything. Some protective models, such as designing your issues with your partner or not taking responsibility for any problems you face, are signs that things are going wrong. They may be indicators that you have lost the ability to reason with each other, which makes overcoming conflict much harder.
